Pan's Labyrinth
Jan. 21st, 2007 05:52 pmI went to go see Pan's Labyrinth last night. It was amazing, but in that way where I feel stunned. For those of you who don't know much about it, the story comes from Spanish fairy tales. It is set during the end of World War Two in the Spanish countryside where the Spanish fascist army is fighting with the rebel communists fighting guerilla warfare. The movie centers on the story of a young girl who is stuck between reality and the fairy tale world. I am very glad they didn't alter the fairy tale as far as I can tell. It is creepy, to say the least. It's is a fairy tale that hasn't been touched by Disney, and it is wonderful. Thoughts on the movie follow below:
Overall, I really liked the movie. I do recommend that you go see it, but I also caution that it seems to be the kind of movie that you like or are greatly disturbed and can't deal with it making you not like it. So I suggest considering that before you go to see it. And go expecting violence. It is a very well made and good movie, however, I don't think it's good for everyone to go see. Very wonderful movie in my opinion though.
