I'm actually both relieved and disappointed that you pointed out some of that--I'd noticed the same issue with lack of playing with playtrons last time I went to Bristol. At the time, I thought maybe it was just me, or maybe they just put forth more effort to people *not* in garb, to help them fit in more or something? But if you guys actively attempted to engage them and still got ignored, I'm thinking maybe they're just not great at patron interaction at all. :( It's called interactive theatre for a reason, people!
But the pub sing had made me think about our own Faire, and how maybe we should try to encourage a bit more audience participation--I think we do better than them, at least, saying they can sing along if they know the words, and making eye contact and such. Bristol's pub sing group seemed to be doing it entirely for themselves, barely acknowledging that they might even *have* an audience.
So: relieved that you made similar observations so it wasn't just me, but disappointed because it means they're not any better this year and when I go next week I'll probably only be confirming that.

Still, um, yay Faire? Have fun tomorrow!
